California law (Cal. Gov. Code § 12950.1) requires employers with 5 or more employees to provide sexual harassment prevention training to California employees. Launch is over the threshold; this requirement applies to Launch's California employees.
What Launch will provide
- Non-supervisory California employees: 1 hour of sexual harassment prevention training.
- Supervisory California employees: 2 hours of sexual harassment prevention training.
When
- Within 6 months of hire (or promotion into a supervisory role).
- Every 2 years thereafter.
Content
Training must cover (at minimum):
- The definition of unlawful harassment under FEHA and federal law.
- Examples of conduct that constitutes harassment, discrimination, and retaliation.
- Practical examples of how to prevent harassment, discrimination, and retaliation.
- Information about supervisors' obligation to report.
- Bystander intervention training.
- The complaint process at Launch (see §2 of the core handbook) and external complaint channels (CRD, EEOC).
How Launch will deliver the training
Launch will provide access to an interactive, classroom-style or e-learning training program that meets the requirements of Cal. Gov. Code § 12950.1, the implementing regulations of the California Civil Rights Department, and uses materials developed or approved by the CRD. You will receive an enrollment notice from HR.
Records
Launch maintains records of who has completed training and when, in accordance with state recordkeeping requirements.
