A letter from the founder, Monica Colgan

At Launch Industries, we are proud to have built a diverse and inclusive workforce where we sincerely hope employees feel welcome and experience belonging. Our team is made up of talented individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives — and that's what makes us strong.

As a member of the Launch family, we are thrilled you are choosing to spend your life energy working at Launch. Your unique skills and passion are exactly what we need to continue our mission of innovation and excellence. We are committed to creating an environment where you can thrive, both professionally and personally.

We believe that diversity is one of our greatest strengths. We embrace and celebrate the differences that make each of us unique — whether it's your race, gender, age, religion, sexual orientation, disability status, or any other aspect of your identity. At Launch, we know that our diverse workforce fuels our creativity, drives our success, and makes us who we are.

We want you to feel valued, respected, and empowered to be your authentic self every single day. This is a place where you can bring your whole self to work, where your voice will be heard, and where you'll have the support and resources to reach your full potential.

Sincerely,

Monica Colgan Founder & CEO

Mission & vision

  • Mission: At Launch Industries, we believe in the possibility of workplace joy that is authentic and human-centered. To make this a reality, we support purpose-driven leaders and businesses in creating tech-enabled learning organizations that are inclusive, equitable, and sustainable.
  • Vision: We envision a world in which all workplaces cultivate connection, ease, and joy, and where everyone has the opportunity to do what they love.
  • Our DEI commitment: We operate with the notion that we are better together. This principle drives our commitment to working with historically oppressed groups and unites us in building a diverse workforce that empowers Black, brown, LGBTQ+, and other marginalized communities. We aim to create positive, lasting change and challenge the unconscious practices of white supremacy that exist in everyday business. At Launch, everyone's humanity is valued, everyone is cared for, and all identities are safe.

About this handbook

This handbook lays out information pertaining to equal opportunity and being a part of a respectful workplace. It also outlines our policies surrounding compensation and benefits, attendance and scheduling, workplace standards and conduct, safety and security, separation of employment, and company property. This handbook is intended to be an up-to-date, accurate resource for all of our employment policies and we welcome feedback about anything that you encounter herein that seems out of touch or which you believe to be inaccurate based on verbal statements of the Founder.

California-resident employees: in addition to this core handbook, you are also covered by the California Addendum at the end of this handbook, which sets out the California-specific rules that apply to you under FEHA, CFRA, the CA Healthy Workplaces Healthy Families Act, and other CA law. Read both.

Who is covered by this handbook

The policies contained in this Employee Handbook apply to all Company employees unless exempted as provided in this Handbook or by written contract. As used in this Employee Handbook, the term "you" or "your" refers to you as an employee of the Company.

At-will employment policy

Company personnel are employed on an at-will basis per Washington State Law. This means by law, employment may be terminated — with or without notice and with or without cause — at any time by the employee or the Company. Nothing in this handbook shall limit the right to terminate at-will employment. Keep in mind that no supervisor or other representative of the company has the authority to enter into any agreement for employment for any specified period of time or to make any agreement contrary to the contents of this handbook.

Introductory period for new employees

At Launch, we provide a supportive introductory period to help new employees adjust to their roles, learn about our processes and culture, and build confidence in their responsibilities. This period focuses on training, guidance, and development to set the foundation for success. It is not a probationary period but an opportunity to grow and feel supported as part of the team.

Typically lasting 60 days, the introductory period includes access to resources, tailored training, and regular feedback. New employees are encouraged to ask questions and seek clarification in a collaborative environment. Beyond this period, Launch remains committed to ongoing learning and development throughout an employee's career.

Contacting Human Resources

At Launch, we take a personalized approach to HR, ensuring every employee receives direct support. HR responsibilities at Launch Industries are directly overseen by the owner, Monica Colgan, who holds the SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential. This direct ownership of HR fosters transparency, trust, and open communication. Employees are encouraged to reach out for assistance with questions about policies, benefits, accommodations, workplace concerns, or suggestions for improvement.

For HR-related matters, employees can contact HR at hr@launchindustries.biz, or reach out to Monica directly through in-person meetings, Zoom, or other agreed-upon methods. We value open dialogue and timely communication to address concerns and support a positive work environment.

Open door policy

At Launch, we value open communication as key to fostering a positive and productive work environment. Our Open Door Policy reflects our commitment to transparency, approachability, and mutual respect, ensuring employees feel comfortable sharing ideas, asking questions, and raising concerns at any time. Whether it's discussing workplace challenges, offering feedback, or seeking guidance, we want employees to know their voices are valued.

Employees are encouraged to approach the owner or leadership team with questions, concerns, or suggestions without waiting for formal meetings. Conversations can take place in person, via email (hr@launchindustries.biz), or through other preferred channels, and all discussions will be treated with professionalism and discretion. This policy creates a supportive environment where employees can expect respectful listening, constructive dialogue, and confidentiality. Open communication strengthens our team, and we welcome employee input to achieve shared success.
